are high on my list of "at the right price I'd love to try it". I'd really have wanted a SLIGHTLY easier setting (with a checkpoint just before the final boss fight for example, because the loop of failing and ending up back in the home town is absolutely ridiculous, not just frustrating, but ridiculous because a character betrays you in the cutscene leading up to the fight, and that character is standing there right next to you, as if nothing happened. However, I did enjoy the game, but got tired of retrying the last boss and stopped playing. But I hate (!) sould-like difficulty for the sake ofbeing difficult (even though I almost appreciated it throughout my playthrough of Ashen, and I understand that it raises the stakes of combat, which I understand can be much more rewarding - or punishing). The game hadn't even begun, the character walked out of a falafel place, and I stopped watching to not have the experience spoiled, bought it, finished it that same night, and pre-ordered the physical release.Īs for Ashen, I love the art style and almost everything about this game and got it at a 50% sale recently which is higher than what I usually pay for digital games but decent for what I got out of it. I was on the fence about Sayonara, and thought "I'll watch a let's play instead".
